The Master's degree program, since its inception in 1968, has remained as a good quality program continuously forming teachers for teaching and research. The Doctoral program since its inception in 1986, has trained many doctors. These programs have great importance in the North and Northeast regions, attracting many students from these regions, increasing improvement in the university level.

At the graduate level a variety of active research seminars take place weekly and students get the opportunity to mingle with some of the world's top researchers at the major national and international conferences that are held at DMat. The department has a number of international collaboration agreements with universities around the world which have led to exchanges of both faculty and students.
